What to Expect from Trump's Upcoming State of the Union

President Donald Trump’s upcoming State of the Union Address Tuesday will likely differ from President Obama’s previous speeches. Trump is expected to boast about the booming economy, the recent government shutdown and healthcare reform. Taking over the presidential office at the economy’s highest point in years with a Republican grip on the House and Senate, Trump is sitting at much more comfortable spot than Obama during his first State of the Union Address. Inheriting the office in a time when the economy was in shambles, the Obama administration boosted the economy to economy to the state it is in today. With a reputation for boasting, Trump is likely to lay claim on these positive impacts still rippling in from the Obama administration. Having claimed the creation of 1 million jobs just six months into his presidency, according to The Washington Post, this will not be the first time Trump has falsely attributed Obama’s work to himself. The Washington Post also says Trump...

Michael Wolff's Controversial Approach to Journalism

Infamous columnist and media critic Michael Wolff has garnered a reputation over his career for his brash, loose style of reporting. Having worked for news and entertainment outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair and USA Today, Wolff has carved a name for himself with his unique approach to journalism and reporting on subjects, often to the subject’s dismay. In his latest work “Fire and Fury,” Wolff has focused his aim at President Donald Trump and the continuous controversy surrounding his administration and relentless criticisms that he is unfit and unqualified to head one of the most powerful countries in the free world. Like his other works, Wolff pulls all the stops in his explosive tell-all account of his time reporting from within the White house. This coverage features quotes and information Wolff claims come directly from White House staff and people who have spent time close to Trump during his time as President, such as much talked about quotes from Steve...

State of the State Address 2018 Highlights

Gov. Jim Justice attempted to provide an optimistic outlook during the 2018 State of the State Address that differed from the grim outlook of last year’s speech. “West Virginians were really hurting, and today you’re going to have a hard time to keep me from smiling,” Justice said. In his 2018 State of the State Address, Justice covered a wide range of topics important to West Virginia, including several topics that directly affect Huntington citizens and students in the area. Topics ranged from his approach to fulfilling his promise to put an end to the state’s opioid crisis that he made during last year’s address to his plans for the future of education in West Virginia. A standout moment from last night’s speech was Justice’s plan to further tackle the state’s opioid crisis, having already promised to help eliminate the crisis during last year’s State of the State Address. Justice announced that he enlisted the help of doctors from the West Virginia University Rockefell...
